Production Team
The members of the production team are the unsung heroes of operatic performances. CHOG has its own extraordinary - and loyal - team, without which our biennial productions could not take place. These are the people who spend long months before the singers arrive giving the opera a shape (the stage director), designing the set and costumes (the designer), designing the lighting plan (the lighting designer), making the costumes (the costume maker), and ensuring that the designer's plans are realisable, financially viable, and safe. In the final stages of the production, these are the people, who, along with a few additional members of the technical crew (the stage managers and electricians), creep in when in the evening when the rehearsals have finished and work tirelessly until the small hours to install the set and lighting. And then while the performances are underway, an extraordinary group of people ensure that the lighting cues run, that props are in place, and that the show is executed smoothly and safely. Always backstage keeping the singers relaxed and comfortable are the hair and make-up supervisor and the costume maker. Without these people, our productions would simply be concert performances.
