Stephanie Corley

STEPHANIE CORLEY (soprano) studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the National Opera Studio. She continues her studies with Rudolf Piernay and John Evans. Having won prizes at the Clonter Opera Prize and at the Tawyn Roberts National Eisteddfod in 2004, Stephanie was a recipient of a Susan Chilcott Scholarship in 2005 and was a finalist in both the 2006 Emmy Destinn and 2007 Veronica Dunn singing competitions.

Roles in 2008 included Fiordiligi Così fan tutte for Opera by Definition, Ines Il trovatore at Opera Holland Park, Countess Almaviva The Marriage of Figaro for Iford Opera, Lady-in-Waiting Macbeth and Inez La favorite for Chelsea Opera Group, and Hanna Glawari The Merry Widow on tour with Scottish Opera.

Stephanie has also sung Musetta La bohème for Scottish Opera on Tour, as well as performances at the Glyndebourne Festival of Pamina Die Zauberflöte and Marzelline Fidelio. She has covered the roles of Fiordiligi Così fan tutte for Glyndebourne Touring Opera and Aminta Il re pastore at the 2007 Garsington Festival. Stephanie’s work in 2007 also included multiple roles in contemporary opera company Tête-à-Tête’s new work, Blind Date. In the National Opera Studio scenes Stephanie sang Nedda I Pagliacci, Leila Les pêcheurs de perles, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni, the title role in Cendrillon and Tina in Jonathan Dove’s Flight.

Recent concert highlights have included Vaughan Williams’s Sea Symphony at Snape Maltings and opera galas at the St David’s Hall, Cardiff and Fairfield Halls, Croydon, Classical Spectaculars in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow for Raymond Gubbay, and Britten’s Les Illuminations with the Birmingham Philharmonic.

Stephanie’s operatic projects in 2009 include Desdemona Otello for Graham Vick’s Birmingham Opera Company, Fiordiligi Così fan tutte for Diva Opera, as well as Contessa Almaviva Le nozze di Figaro for Longborough Festival Opera.
