Pamela Hay

Polish-American Pamela Hay (soprano) studied at the Royal College of Music, Johns Hopkins University, and Mozarteum, Salzburg, with Noelle Barker and Dinah Harris. She has received numerous prestigious awards and sung in masterclasses of Barbara Bonney, Philip Langridge, and Malcolm Martineau.

Pamela's wide-ranging opera roles include Donna Elvira (British Youth Opera), the title role in The Merry Widow (Bloomsbury Theatre, Opera UK), Yum-Yum (UK tour), Barbarina (Lyric Theatre Hammersmith), Pamina, Norina, Euridice, Belinda, Créuse (in the British prèmiere of Milhaud's Médée), Anne Page (in Nicolai's The Merry Wives of Windsor), la Princesse (in Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges), and Elle (in Poulenc's one-woman opera La voix humaine); she has performed with Houston Grand Opera, Wigmore Hall Education, Iford Opera Festival, Utah Festival Opera Company, Aspen Music Festival, Carl Rosa Opera Company, and Opera Della Luna. She has also sung roles written specially for her voice at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, including Psyche in The Golden Ass with Mark Rylance, and she created the role of Amy in Little Women at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, which she performed with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

Pamela has appeared as a recitalist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and also on tour in Moscow, St Petersburg, London, Salzburg, Belgium, Costa Rica, and the USA, including at the Kennedy Center and on the Voice of America radio network. She is the associate soprano with the new orchestra Sound Collective, comprising members of the Philharmonia and Scottish Chamber Orchestras. She frequently appears as soloist with orchestras all over the UK in music ranging from Haydn Nelson Mass to Britten Les Illuminations, at venues including St John's, Smith Square, Little Missenden Festival, St Alban's Cathedral, and, further afield, with the Yaroslavl Symphony Orchestra in Russia.

Pamela's forthcoming engagements include Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow (international tour with Opera UK) and Ellen in Lakmé (Opera Holland Park).
