Louis-David Bédard
Louis-David Bédard (countertenor) was born and raised in Québec, Canada. He began singing at the age of nine when he performed the role of the first spirit in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Québec Opera House.
Louis-David has performed as a soloist throughout Canada. Most notably, he sang at the Québec Bach Festival; other performances include Bach’s St John Passion, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Dixit Dominus, and Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne, Haydn’s Theresien Messe, and Pärt’s Miserere with Les Rapsodes. His stage appearances include Orfée in Gluck’s Orfée et Euridice and Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with L’Atelier du Conservatoire de Musique de Québec where he studied for two years.
Louis David is also in demand as a choral singer in Canada, working with Bernard Labadie (conductor of La Chapelle de Québec) and Les Violons du Roy on a recent tour of the USA singing Mozart’s Requiem. Louis-David currently studies with Nick Clapton, Audrey Hyland, and Laurence Cummings at The Royal Academy of Music, where he is grateful for the support of the Jaqueline Desmarais Foundation and the Cultural Minister of Québec.
