Elisabeth Fleming

Elisabeth Fleming (company manager; chorus: alto) studied Music at Jesus College, Cambridge. She was a choral scholar at Jesus College, and has also sung as a volunteer in the Choir of Clare College; she studies with David Lowe. With the Choir of Clare College she has performed for conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Richard Egarr, Daniel Harding, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, René Jacobs, and Nicholas Kraemer, and with ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Concerto Köln. She now works as a freelance concert and tours administrator and singer. She is the Manager of and sings in English Voices; projects this year include a tour of Spain with the OAE and Gustav Leonhardt, Handel's Solomon with the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Ivor Bolton, and staged performances of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo in the Aix-en-Provence Festival with Concerto Vocale and René Jacobs.

Elisabeth developed a passion for Handel opera in her second year as an undergraduate, and completed an M.Phil on the subject of the borrowings in Giulio Cesare, Tamerlano, and Rodelinda; she is delighted to have found a channel for her energies through CHOG (this is her third production as company manager). She lives in Cambridge, and is generally to be found either under a large pile of paper or in a stable; her only regret is that there are no mountains in the area.
