Elisabeth Fleming

Elisabeth Fleming (company manager) studied Music at Jesus College, Cambridge. She sang as a choral scholar at Jesus College and as a volunteer in the Choir of Clare College. She now studies with John Evans in London. With the Choir of Clare College she has performed for conductors such as Ivor Bolton, Richard Egarr, Daniel Harding, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and René Jacobs, and with ensembles such as the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, and Concerto Köln. She now works as a freelance singer, teacher, and arts administrator. She is the manager of and sings in English Voices; recent projects include a tour of Spain and France with the English Concert and Harry Bicket, Bach’s Lutheran Masses with the OAE and Gustav Leonhardt, and staged performances of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo in the Aixen- Provence Festival with Concerto Vocale and René Jacobs. This year she will sing chorus in the Salzburg Festival production of Handel’s Theodora, conducted by Ivor Bolton. She also works for Rayfield Artists.

Elisabeth developed a passion for Handel opera in her second year as an undergraduate, and completed an MPhil on the subject of the borrowings in Giulio Cesare, Tamerlano, and Rodelinda. She lives in Cambridge, and is generally to be found either under a large pile of paper or in a stable; her lasting regret is that there are no mountains in the area.
