Clara Kanter
Clara Kanter (chorus: alto) began to study singing with Lynda Richardson in 2002. She was a pupil at the Henrietta Barnett School, where she sang in a variety of choirs and co-directed the school's Chamber Choir. Her solo roles included the Sorceress in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Over the last five years she has taken part in a range of courses at Dartington International Music Summer School, where she sang in masterclasses with Evelyn Tubb, Nicholas Clapton, Stephen Varcoe, and Sheila Barnes. She also took part in semi-staged performances of madrigals by Banchieri and Monteverdi after working with I Fagiolini. She has been invited back this year to sing in a new commission for the school by Orlando Gough. Clara has sung in the choir for the National Theatre's production of Coram Boy for the last two years. In 2006 she took up a place to read Music at Clare College, where she holds a Choral Award. She studies with Ashley Stafford.
