Cameron Lawrence

Cameron Lawrence (designer) studied at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he gained a BA in theatre design. On graduating in 1998, he was appointed as the college's Design Technician. During his three years in the post he took exhibitions to London, Prague, and Budapest, and supervised the design of over forty student productions, as well as launching his own professional freelance career.

Imeneo is Cameron's third collaboration with CHOG; he has previously designed the set for Serse in 2003 and both set and costumes for Tamerlano in 2005. Cameron has also worked with CHOG's current director, Tom Hawkes, on several other occasions: he has designed sets for Gianni Schicchi and I Pagliacci for the Central Festival Opera, and, more recently, the set and costume designs for London Opera Players' 2003 production of Don Giovanni.

Cameron's other opera design credits include: Handel's Julius Caesar (2000), Rossini's Italian Girl in Algiers (2001), Così fan tutte (2002), and Cavalleria Rusticana (2003). In more recent years Cameron's work has become more diverse: he has worked not just in opera but in all other areas of stage design, ranging from set and costumes for the première of a new play, Winter of War, at the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre to staging for Fugitsu's UK conference and the design for an Arthurian theme park in Snowdonia. Cameron has also branched out into TV design; he recently finished work on the drama series Cowbois Ac Injans for S4C and is currently working on their new comedy Y Rhaglen Wirionach Fyth.
