Alan Morgan
Alan Morgan (lighting designer) has been lighting shows of one sort or another for twenty years, since his undergraduate days. Over the years he has worked in many venues, both in Cambridge and in other parts of the country, from Manchester to the Minack Theatre in Cornwall, on all kinds of productions of straight drama, musicals, and especially opera. Around Cambridge he has lit productions in various theatres, college venues, and West Road Concert Hall. His opera work has ranged across the ages from Monteverdi to Britten and various points in between, though Handel’s works are a particular favourite: he has been the lighting designer for the CHOG productions for the last ten years, having lit Admeto, Orlando, Serse, Tamerlano, Imeneo, and now Ariodante.
These days, with a day job in the electronics industry designing bits of low power processor chips for portable video and multimedia applications, he has the opportunity to light relatively few shows, but the biennial CHOG productions have become a regular feature in his diary and make a welcome change.
